Feb. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- A public art project in Traverse City, MI, transformed a blank downtown wall and involved over 2,000 amateur artists.

The finished mural is 50 feet by 13 feet and is made up of 2,600 individual tiles. For a modest donation of $5 anyone could paint one of the tiles — and they did. Children as young as three were on hand at the many painting events and helped create a new downtown landmark.

ACE Hardware donated funds for paint and tiles. After expenses, Artcenter Traverse City netted around $5,000.

Full details on this program appear in the February issue of "Downtown Promotion Reporter."
