What makes an individual possess a magical influence?

QUOTE: "Wear a smile and have friends; wear a scowl and have wrinkles. What do we live for if not to make the world less difficult for each other?" (George Eliot, 1819-1880, Novelist)

Magic as a word, and Luck is a similar example, are two words that literally have little or no existence in the world of wisdom. But that is ‘literally’; as the dictionary definition. Yet as a concept they do!

We loosely use both words to create an image. This week we’ll look at magic; but more specifically, “What makes an individual possess a magical influence?”

Where would you start to describe the assets of a person who emanated this quality?

You may recall one particular person from your past that inspired your life; they had some form of magical influence, but how and why?

The reason for this week’s topic came from this article…

What Is IT?

Great politicians have IT. Movie stars and sports heroes have IT. Super sales people and exceptional business leaders also have IT. What is IT? If IT was exclusively connected to personalities, you could possibly narrow this mysterious quality down to personal magnetism. However, there are times when you hear a new song on the radio and instantly you recognize this particular song is on its way to the top of the chart - this song has IT.

The same is true of movies - some have IT. There have been many low budget movies that have had IT, and conversely, some multi-million dollar productions with big name stars that did not have IT.

Advertising agencies spend countless hours with some of the greatest creative minds in their industry looking for that one word or line that has IT, which will turn the ad campaign into the sensation of the year. On the radio you will find certain disc jockeys that have IT. Every Christmas a product hits the market that has IT and millions are sold. Every young woman will tell you there are certain guys who have IT and the guys will tell you there are certain women that have IT.

What is IT? That is a good question, which no one has been able to answer although many have tried for thousands of years. IT, that magical, elusive something which most everyone is attracted to, cannot be purchased at any price and, if it could be, the price tag would very likely be out of our reach.

How do you get IT? I don't honestly know, although I've thought long and hard about it. I have come to one conclusion, if you happen to develop, find or stumble upon IT, you will probably be the only one who will not recognize you've got IT. And, since you won't know you have IT, you won't be able to tell us how to get IT.

Finding IT would surely make a big difference in our lives. Let's keep looking.

(Bob Proctor, Speaker and Author)

It is difficult to make something out of nothing; but to have ‘something’ is a starting point.

If you could communicate a ‘thank you’, you have a ‘something’ to start from. You have a politeness that not everybody possesses.

Wisdom would suggest that this quality is the building block for a magical influence.

Start the habit of saying thank you, but more importantly WATCH! Watch what happens, you will at least generate a smile.

Whilst one set of characteristics would equate to being magical in one person doesn’t necessarily mean it would work for another. So we need to take tentative steps to see what works for us as individuals.

Being polite, may well lead to being generous, which may then lead to being caring, helpful and considerate. Your time may be used to inspire ‘positiveness’ rather than join others in being negative.

Being forceful with your intent is a good starting point. You need to create a positive habitual response to every negative situation. Until that forceful intent becomes second nature.

If you dwell for one moment on what effect a simple ‘thank you’ can create, you’ll understand that you have a foundation for a magical life.

When a suggestion to ‘dwell’ is made it is not a thought pattern of effort and struggle but a simple letting go. Say, “Thank you,” in your mind and drop every other thought and see what arises. Within ten seconds you’ll see a smiling face, trust me and try it…

This process of trusting what arises is immense; we ought to treat it with care and attention.

You need to identify what is a thought arising and what is a product of your ego. Your ego will introduce an asnwer by speaking to you, a trust in your inner self arises without the inner speech.

The magical person trusts this inner self and responds accordingly. I was listening to an elderly person describing a situation that I’d heard a thousand times before. I sensed a need to listen with intent as this person was becoming happy during this conversation. I listened as if I’d never heard this description before. The lady chuckled and smiled as she talked. I needed to be a listener at that moment to make someone happy.

If I’d have gone with my inner voice which was saying, “Make a quick exit,” I’d have not allowed this magical influence to manifest.

To be magical is to trust it what arises. Practice doing what arises instead of listening to the dialogue that can sometimes take over your life.
