Nancy I. Sanders is the award-winning and bestselling children’s author of over 80 books. Her picture book, D is for Drinking Gourd: An African American Alphabet  (Illustrated by E. B. Lewis) sold over 70,000 copies upon initial publication and won various awards including 2007 NAPPA Honors, 2008 IRA Teacher’s Choice, and Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People 2008. Nancy’s books have been published by such houses as Tyndale, Concordia, Standard, Augsburg, Scholastic, and Reader's Digest Children's Books, and she is a feature fiction and nonfiction writer for Focus on the Family's Clubhouse Jr.

Known as an inspirational and motivational mentor by friends and fellow writers, Nancy truly believes that everyone can follow their dreams to be a successful children’s writer. In her book, Yes! You Can Learn How to Write Children’s Books, Get Them Published, and Build a Successful Writing Career, Nancy teaches writers how to manage their time and focus their energies so that they are writing each day with purpose in order to get published, earn an income, and satisfy their personal fulfillment as a writer. Amy Jackson, Senior Editor at Sleeping Bear Press said about her book, “Like no other how-to children’s writer’s book out there. An honest, realistic guide for anyone aspiring to become a career writer, Nancy I. Sanders demystifies the process from pen to paycheck. Yes! You Can is like having your own personal writing coach at your side.”

Nancy and her husband, Jeff, live in Chino, California. They have two adult sons, Dan and Ben, and a rambunctious cat-who-thinks-he’s-a-writer named Humphrey. www.nancyisanders.com
