Local practitioners attend Academy of Craniofacial Pain meeting

Dr. Hakala and Dr. Ledermann from the Minnesota Craniofacial Center Midway attended the annual Mid-Winter Meeting of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain.
 
Feb. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Drs. Roy V. Hakala, DDS and Kim Ledermann, DDS of Minnesota Craniofacial Center Midway recently attended the 18th Annual Mid-Winter Meeting sponsored by the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP). The meeting was held in New Orleans, LA, January 28 - 29, 2011. The theme for the conference was “Putting Sleep Knowledge to Work: Practical Pearls for Monday Morning Applications”.

The American Academy of Craniofacial Pain was founded in 1985. Membership in the international organization consists of dentists, physicians, psychologists, chiropractic physicians, oral surgeons, physical therapists and other related health care practitioners from the United States, Canada, Australia, Europe, South America and Asia. The purpose of the Academy is to foster education among the medical and dental professions and to promote the understanding of the multi-disciplinary treatment of people suffering from craniofacial pain and temporomandibular joint disorders.

The Academy conducts a minimum of two symposiums each year, in different U.S. cities. Speakers and topics differ at each conference. The New Orleans event consisted of presentations by renowned experts Duane Johnson, PhD, James C. O’Brien, MD, FCCP, D-ABSM, Kathyrn Hansen, BS, REEGT, CPC, Atul Malhotra, MD, Jonathon Parker, DDS, Russell Rosenberg, PhD, DABSM and Edward Spiegel, DDS. The presentations focused on new and innovative discoveries in sleep medicine and methods treating patients who suffer from sleep disorders.

Dr. Hakala is a Fellow of the AACP, and Dr. Ledermann is an AACP member.
