Feb. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- On February 8, the Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) board members approved Kaufman Lynn Construction, Inc., to manage the construction services of three capital improvement projects along East Ocean Avenue, moving the downtown revitalization process one step closer to becoming a reality.  Those projects include Boynton Harbor Marina’s entry feature, relocation and renovation of historic Ruth Jones Cottage and a new amphitheater in town square.

Kaufman Lynn (KL) Construction, Inc., is under a Continuing Contract with the CRA and was recently named by Florida Trend magazine as one of Florida’s top 25 construction companies.  They have a 21-year track record of award-winning construction throughout the State.

Marina Entry Feature – this iconic entry way signage and architectural feature resembling a lighthouse will reinforce the City’s historic relationship with the water.
Ocean Avenue Amphitheatre – the amphitheatre will be the first in the City and will include a shell-like canopy thus connecting the waterfront to the Town Square.  Once built, the amphitheatre will be the site of regularly scheduled events.
Ruth Jones Cottage – relocation and renovation of this historic structure to the corner of east Ocean Avenue and SE 4th Street for a new restaurant will help to activate Ocean Avenue and preserve one of the oldest structures in the City.

Drawing people to downtown Boynton Beach and creating business interest and development opportunities is the objective of the City’s Master Plan and Downtown Vision.  “The City is taking a major step forward in structuring a truly memorable place that will provide greater public access to the waterfront, a friendly pedestrian environment, and an economically viable location for the area’s immediate and surrounding businesses,” said CRA Board Chair and Mayor Jose Rodriguez. “Our master plan for the downtown area is to guide its evolution as a first-rate destination, inviting new businesses, residents and visitors to Boynton Beach.”

Both the amphitheatre and marina entry projects have received construction permits from the City.  The Ruth Jones Cottage is in the process of permitting.  The projects are expected to be completed within three months of starting.
