Facebook key to nonprofit organization’s efforts to help consumers save

Feb. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- InCharge Debt Solutions is participating in America Saves Week, all month long. America Saves is a national social marketing campaign that encourages low and moderate income individuals to save money, reduce debt and build wealth.

The Bureau of Economic Analysis shows Americans are beginning to make improvements in their savings habits, doubling the amounts they put away annually ($289 billion in Q1 of 2008 vs. $625 billion in in Q4 of 2010).  This is an encouraging figure, says Etta Money, president of InCharge Debt Solutions. “A large portion of our credit counseling process focuses on the importance of developing a savings plan, and getting into the habit of putting money aside for emergencies and the future.”

To encourage an online savings community, InCharge has developed a customized Facebook tab as a way to facilitate a sharing of personal finance, money management and savings ideas that work between employees and consumers nationwide.   Consumers can start by making a saving pledge to themselves. The organization’s daily interaction on its Facebook page during February includes:

Week Two: Make Savings Automatic – give and get ideas on making savings automatic
Week Three: Savings with the Ones You Love – conversation about how to involve family and friends
