Factors Southwest LLC’s owner and managing member, Robyn Barrett, has announced the renewal of a $1,500 scholarship, open to Arizona State University students. The scholarship is offered to all students, including those in master’s degree programs. The financial aid Factors Southwest will provide is meant to encourage and support young entrepreneurs as they make their way through their education. The deadline for applications is June 1, 2011.
“We are pleased to continue the Entrepreneurial Scholarship into a second year and are looking forward to providing continued support for young entrepreneurs as they receive their education,” said Barrett, also a graduate of ASU. “As our business continues to grow, we look to increase our community involvement and encourage future entrepreneurs who are vital to our economy.”
Requirements for the Factors Southwest Entrepreneurial Scholarship include a minimum GPA of 2.00, one teacher, counselor, or employer recommendation, a current resume, and a 500-word essay explaining the importance of being entrepreneurial. Neither financial need nor major will be considered in the scholarship selection. Applicants must be Arizona residents enrolled as a full time student at ASU Tempe, West Polytechnic, or downtown Phoenix campus.
Barrett launched the scholarship at $1,000, and will increase it this year to $1,500. Each year Barrett plans on increasing the scholarship by donating a percentage generated through the acquisition of new clients to the fund. Submissions can be made online through the scholarship listings at asu.edu or by emailing scholarship@
Barrett and Factors Southwest specialize in providing funding for small and mid-size businesses. With the slow recovery of the economy, the company recognizes the importance support for education provides in order for students’ success in college and beyond.
