Uftring Automall will be one of only a handful of dealers in Illinois to carry the electric Ford Transit Connect. It will be one of the very first electric vehicles offered to businesses and consumers in Central Illinois.
Ford Transit Connect Electric Van
Azure Dynamics approached the Uftring Automall to sell their electric van based on location and a strong history of Ford Transit Connect sales. "The Ford Transit Connect has been a hit with our customers and a high volume vehicle for us due to its extensive level of customization, affordability, and ease of use," said Jeff Peters, Fleet and Commercial Sales Manager for the Uftring Auto Group. "We are excited at the opportunity to offer our customers an eco-friendly electric vehicle."
The modified Ford Transit Connect Electric runs completely using electricity, eliminating the need for gas. It utilizes Azure Dynamics Force Drive battery electric drivetrain. The high voltage lithium-ion battery can be charged from a 120V or 240V AC input, the same type of outlet that large household appliances use. Many consumers will be able to pull the van into their garage to charge overnight.
Driving range for the Transit Connect Electric is between 50-80 miles, depending on the driver and conditions, and it can reach a top speed of 75 mph. It takes between 6-8 hours to fully charge the electric van. Peters said the van will initially be aimed at government organizations, schools, and universities. Places that operate a fleet of vehicles on a local basis will find the Ford Transit Connect Electric to be an ideal solution with long term cost savings. State and federal tax credits will be available.
