PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 9, 2011 - (Kingston Springs, TN) February 3, 2010…The Harpeth Band of Blue Booster Club announces the entertainment for this year’s Cabin Fever fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, February 26. Cabin Fever is an annual event developed to support the Harpeth High School Band of Blue marching and concert band and winter drumline.  This is the band’s major fundraiser of the year to support the 2010 and 2011 band budget of close to $100,000.  With a small fraction of the budget provided through the Cheatham County Board of Education, the primary support of this award winning band is raised through student fees and year-long fundraisers.

Harpeth High School’s Band of Blue has a consistently high competitive program evidenced by results this year when the band was ranked as the  #1 Percussion band in the State of Tennessee and 4th Overall at the 2010 Division II State Marching Band Championship event late last year. The band is now competing in Winter Drumline invitational events. Over the last ten years, the Harpeth Band of Blue has achieved state finalists each year, garnered two state championships, and acquired state championship in percussion seven times, in addition to championships given also for Color Guard (3x) and Field Commander (1x).

Cabin Fever – Music, Food and Silent Auction

Cabin Fever will be held at Harpeth High School located in nearby Kingston Springs, TN, and will include  a delicious Bar-b-que dinner with sides, dessert and drink, silent auction with many music memorabilia and other great auction items, with a concluding performance by talented artists. The dinner and silent auction begins at 5 p.m. followed by the entertainment at 7 p.m.

Solicitation is now occurring for any item that can be used for the Silent Auction – especially music related memorabilia, hotel or Bed and Breakfast gifts, spa gifts or gift certificates from businesses in the Nashville area.

Musicial Entertainment Announced–
Greg Foresman Band, Runaway Home and Jack Kapanka

Greg Foresman is best known as a guitar virtuoso and a Nashville session ace when he’s not touring with Martina McBride’s band.

His music bold, free-spirited music on his CD, KODIAK, is filled with songs about searching, and sometimes finding answers to life’s toughest questions. Kodiak is a reflection of Greg’s thirty-plus years of traveling down the road of hard knocks, always with a guitar strapped around his neck.

The lyrical themes on Kodiak range from the advantages of living simply (Something I Can Use and Backwoods Country Home) to an attempted understanding of what goes on inside the head of a mass murderer (Suicide Bomber).

This is the fourth solo CD Greg has released since disbanding The Hammerheads in 1993, and he continues his penchant for being stylistically eclectic. Musically, Kodiak runs the gamut from barn-burning rockers such as “Soul Survivor” to sinewy funk classics as in “I Know Better” and finishing off with the lovely acoustic guitar ditty, “Big Sky Country”.

Runaway Home is composed of four powerhouse singers – Mark Elliott, Gary Culley,  and Lisa and Teresa McCarter.  They were all looking for a road back to the music they grew up on and loved and met by pure luck and happenstance at a small town venue.

Known for their strong four part harmony with pithy powerful lyrics wrapped in an acoustic style reminiscent of ‘70’s era radio, Runaway Home is one part Retro-Commercial –one part Americana.  Lisa and Teresa are the angel voiced twins of the group.  As the former McCarter Sisters, they released two albums and had seven hits, including three top ten singles.  Lisa and Teresa grew up on a tour bus, travelling the world with acts such as Randy Travis, Brooks & Dunn and Dolly Parton.  They were frequent guests on the Grand Ole Opry and the hit television show Hee-Haw. Runaway Home is currently rounded out by two great musicians, drummer/percussionist, Chip Chipoletti and bassist, Tom Good.

Jack Kapanka - Jack Kapanka’s transition from stuntman to singer/songwriter took off when he landed a 20-minute audition with two music industry powerhouses: Robert Fischetti, Executive Vice-President of Trans Continental Records, and Johnny Wright of *NSYNC and Britney Spears fame. Fischetti helped groom bands such as the BackStreet, *NSYNC, LFO, and O-Town.  "I started off sitting back in my chair with my arms crossed and ended up at the edge of my seat." said Fischetti, "I knew I had something very special before me; I knew Jack was the real thing."

Shawn Rider, Harpeth Band of Blue Booster Club vice president and event chair, shares, “We hope everyone will come out to support this fundraiser.  The Booster Club works hard to ensure that the kids have the uniforms, music, competition fees, instruments and travel money they need to be one of the top bands in the state.  It takes a huge budget to operate a competitive band program.”

The cost for the dinner, silent auction and entertainment is $30 with a special half price rate for children six and under. Tickets for Cabin Fever can be purchased at Heritage Bank and Community Bank & Trust in Kingston Springs and from local booster parents and band members. For more information on how to purchase tickets, or donate an item for the silent auction, call Shawn Rider at 615-300-0947, or e-mail Shawn Rider at shawn.rider@hhsbandofblue.com.  Or for additional information about Cabin Fever, e-mail wildcatcommunications@comcast.net.
