Feb. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- NEW EPISODE OF SIT COM ABOUT COMIC BOOK CREATORS COMMENTS ON CONVENTIONS

Cheapjack Partners have released the fifth webisode of their sit com about comic book creators. “Convention” is the morning-after story of the Bullpen Comics crew making their first convention appearance as a company.

“The Bullpen” has been described as “The Office” in a comic book company. It tells the story of Millard, Jed and Dylan, three well-known comic book creators who quit working for the major publishers to found their own company: Bullpen Comics. They consider what they are doing so important that they install a camera and a microphone to record what happens with three guys with no business sense run a business. Conflict and, it’s hoped, hilarity. They call their company “Bullpen Comics” in tribute to the great days of Marvel Comics.

In “Convention” we find out a little more about some of Bullpen Comics’ projects – including a story about a time-traveling animal – and about how rabid some fans can be.

The series is improvised from scenarios provided by McLaughlin and Benson and performed by McLaughlin, Drew McCabe and Daniel Morris. McLaughlin does the direction and edits. “The Bullpen” grew out of improvised promos McLaughlin and the others shot for “Cheapjack Shakespeare: The Non-Musical,” a staged version of McLaughlin’s graphic novel.  “We just seemed to have a lot of fun together and Gabriel and I were looking for a micro-budget property for the website. Things just fell into place.”

In addition to their web projects, McLaughlin and Benson are running the webcomic "Cheapjack Shakespeare", gearing up to promote "Gene-Fusion: Gladiators 2310" and have three more motion picture projects in discussion. An announcement on one of these is imminent.

Shaun McLaughlin began his career writing “Aquaman” (the non-maimed version) for DC Comics. He went on to write for DC, Malibu, Disney and Dark Horse. In 1994 he moved to Warner Bros. Animation where he produced over 400 episodes of television (5 Emmy Award Winners) including “Batman Beyond”, “Static Shock”, and the various incarnations of “Justice League”. Besides “Cheapjack Shakespeare”, McLaughlin is writing an animated feature for Omens Studios and preparing a live-action feature with Benson.
