Del Sur Continues to Evolve as New Homes, Parks and Habitat Restoration Are Under Way

San Diego master planned community is experiencing an accelerated level of construction

Feb. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- The Del Sur master planned community is experiencing an accelerated level of construction including new homes and neighborhood parks, expanded streets in and surrounding the community, and new areas of restored habitat along Lusardi Creek.

“Unprecedented in recent years, this flurry of activity is a vote of confidence in the local real estate market,” said Bill Ostrem, president and CEO of Black Mountain Ranch, developers of Del Sur (www.delsurliving.com). “It’s exciting to watch as Del Sur continues to evolve as one of San Diego’s most dynamic new communities.”

Here’s an overview of Del Sur’s current activity:

•  Three model home complexes are nearing completion in anticipation of a community grand opening March 19 (visit www.DelSurLiving.com/opening for details). Del Sur’s newest neighborhoods are Carleton and Presidio by Standard Pacific Homes and Valencia by California West Communities.

•   New phases of homes are being built at Del Sur’s Sentinels by Davidson, Madeira and Mandolin by Shea Homes. Homes continue to sell at Standard Pacific's Bridgewalk and Pasado by William Lyon Homes.

•  Two new neighborhood parks are also scheduled to open next month. Kristen Glen Park will feature a handcrafted stone labyrinth and lap pool. Old Stonefield Park will include a play area with swings, swimming pool and dog park.

• Habitat is now being restored with native and drought-tolerant plants along Lusardi Creek.

“The landscape at Del Sur is changing and passing motorists will notice a great deal of earth moving equipment working on site,” said Ostrem of Black Mountain Ranch. “While it looks dramatic, it is consistent with the sustainability-driven plan backed by community groups and the Sierra Club and approved by voters in the City of San Diego nearly 15 years ago. Since its inception, Del Sur has been built with heritage and the environment in mind, and our next phases continue that vision.”

•  Road improvements are slated to start in the coming months. Camino Del Sur will be widened from two to four lanes from Santaluz across the bridge to Paseo Del Sur and along the approximately one-mile stretch from Maranatha Drive to Lone Quail Road. In addition, Babcock Street will be completed, connecting Paseo Del Sur to Camino del Sur at the east end of the community.

Del Sur is located in the coastal hills of North County, just a few miles from the coast. The master-planned community’s two neighborhood schools, Del Sur Elementary and Del Norte High School, are both part of the prestigious Poway Unified School District.   For more information about Del Sur, www.DelSurLiving.com or call 858-481-4200.
