“The Last 5 Years” has toured all over the world, including London, Sydney, Mexico, Canada, Greece and Hungary. Of the new young composers working in today's musical theater, Brown is known as one who has not sacrificed melody and has the distinction of being called a “pop- Sondheim.” Known for its smart story-telling lyrics, the show captures all the emotional conflicts of sustaining a modern relationship, while highlighting the transforming power of love.
“We are excited to bring this gorgeous musical to the La Canada community,” said Director of Drama Ministries, Justin Fisher. “I love what this show says about relationships and the difficulties many couples face today. It is a great pleasure of mine to provide unique theatre experiences to this community and I am eager for everyone to see this production.”
A relatively new addition, LCPC’s Drama Ministry has been responsible for many dramatic works in the La Canada community over the past year, including “Mark Twain’s Diaries of Adam & Eve”, “The Bible: The Complete Word of God (Abridged)” and the Good Friday drama “Were You There.” This ministry also provides a variety of smaller presentations for Sunday morning worship and is currently working with Metamorphosis Theatre Company to provide free improv comedy shows for high school students at LCPC. The musical features a cast of two, Andrew Pratt & Tina Tong. Pratt, the Assistant Director of Worship Arts at LCPC who leads worship every Sunday at its 11:00 am Contemporary Service, is making his theatrical debut. Tong, who sings back-up for Andrew on the Worship Team, is a classically trained theatre actress.
