Long Fence and Home Helps Give Children with Cancer a Better Childhood

Feb. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- BELTSVILLE, Md. – Long Fence and Home, one of the largest home improvement companies in the Washington DC metro area, is proud to support the non-profit organization Special Love.  The support coincides with their “An Evening of Special Love” event.  This gala is held to acknowledge their members and volunteers for their accomplishments, their friendships and their ability to help these children push past the barriers they face.  

A child with cancer is hard pressed to find peers in their same situation.  Special Love offers these children a network of support.  This network is comprised of other patients and families that understand what it is like to battle cancer at a young age.  Through a diverse offering of events, programs and camps, Special Love provides their members with allies to help them through this difficult time.

Special Love’s CEO, David Smith, had this to say about the event and Long Fence and Home’s support:

“An Evening of Special Love” is a great chance for us to celebrate our mission of supporting Mid-Atlantic children with cancer and their families, as well as recognize all the wonderful people who make up our community of support, including Long Fence and Home.  Since 1983, Special Love has helped children with cancer “just be kids” and has introduced them and their families to others who know and understand what they’re going through.  The 2011 gala will also raise money for Special Love’s emergency relief fund, which provides grants to camp families to pay utilities and other critical needs at a time when cancer has already turned their lives upside down.”

For organizations such as Special Love, donations are essential for keeping the network alive.  Long Fence and Home is proud to contribute to such a wonderful organization.  Their donation will provide the funding to allow children to participate in Special Love’s programs and camps.
