Over Half of Alternative Board Members in San Antonio have Record 2010

PRLog (Press Release) - Feb. 8, 2011 - Business in 2010 was soft for many small businesses, but those in San Antonio still found ways to succeed. In its fifth annual “Best Year Yet” survey of member companies, The Alternative Board (TAB) of San Antonio reported that just over half (53%) report that 2010 was a record year when measured by either revenue, profits, or both.

In addition, the 86 member companies who responded reported creating 289 new positions in 2010.

“Our clients are clearly working harder than in 2007, when almost 90% of them had record years.” said John Dini, President and founder of the local TAB chapter. “We are also seeing a higher percentage of companies that lost some revenue, but were more profitable because they’ve learned to be lean and hungry again.”

Asked to analyze the areas of greatest strength, Dini said “The current business climate clearly favors local companies. Those who rely on activity in other parts of the country, particularly California and Florida, are still finding it much tougher going.”
