Follow on Google News | Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort Kicks Off its Ski Divas Program on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011LVSSR invites women over the age of 21 to mix, mingle and improve their skiing and boarding skills during its eight-week Ski Divas program.
By: Forte Creative Media Weekly Ski Diva Thursday afternoon sessions are from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and registration is either $60 per day or $200 for four sessions. Ski Divas registration includes a two-hour group lesson followed by wine and appetizers on the deck of the base lodge. Participants must purchase lift tickets and gear rentals separately. Each participant will receive a goodie bag filled with gifts that any girl who enjoys skiing or boarding will love. Gabrielle Barel, LVSSR’s ski school manager, created the program three years ago to generate excitement and provide an outlet for women who ski to develop and sharpen their skills. “Ski Divas creates a fun and supportive atmosphere that nurtures the growth of women skiers at all levels,” says Barel, who holds the prestigious Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) Level 3 certification and has been an instructor at LVSSR for over 25 years. “I’ve skied all over the world in places like Switzerland, Italy, Canada, and at some of the biggest resorts in the U.S., but I mastered my technique and style right here at LVSSR in the Ski Divas program,” says Las Vegas resident and Ski Divas participant Karryn Sherman. Sherman, age 60, who has been skiing for over 20 years became involved in the program to meet other women who share her passion for winter sports and the outdoors, but discovered it was also a great way to brush up on her skills and improve her technique. “The support from fellow skiers is very encouraging and the instruction and attention given is priceless,” adds Sherman.
