Feb. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Sometimes it's hard to figure out how to grow a beautiful and healthy garden. Growing a pretty and healthy garden is easy when you have the right resources and information. Whether you are looking for annuals, perennials, flowering plants, vegetables or other nursery stock you can find ideas of what to plant and how to grow it in many places. Go to magazines and gardening books to find information from the pictures that are available. Not only are gardening TV programs a great source of information and ideas, they will also give you guidance about preparing, planting and maintaining a garden. A simple walk through your neighbourhood will give you inspiration as you see what your neighbours have done with their lots. When it comes to completing the work and getting ideas talk to friends and relatives to see what has worked, what hasn't and whether they can help you. To get free help and advice you should consider following a daily garden blog or visiting a garden website. Garden centres will help you out when you encounter problems or unexpected issues.

You will need to put together a design once you have settled on some ideas. You need to know what your goals are and what you will be using your garden for. When you are planning out design consider the size of the project. Do you plan on planting a small garden space or working on a huge area of your backyard? What types of materials do you need - aggregates and stones, rocks, sod, grass seed, soil or mulch? Do you want to create water features? Before you choose what to plant you need to consider what will be easy to grow and cultivate in your climate. Consider the drainage on your property as well as the soil you have to work with. No matter your ideas you must ensure you are being realistic and cost effective.

You need to plan your budget before you begin any new gardening project. A realistic budget is necessary before you start on any type of gardening project, big or small. In order to be successful with your budget you need to stick to it. Staying on budget may mean shopping around to find as many deals as possible. Weekly flyers and sales at your local garden centre are a good way to find deals. Don't let the cost impact the health and quality of plants that you buy. Try to balance purchasing healthy plants with affordable prices. If you choose a plant that is unhealthy it could die which will mean that you will have to pay more money to replace it. Or, even worse an unhealthy plant can compromise the health of your entire garden if it spreads a disease to your other plants. You must stay on budget but also ensure you don't purchase unhealthy plants that could put your garden at risk just because they are cheap.

Once you start looking for gardening tips you will start finding them everywhere. Ensuring that you choose easy to maintain plants is a smart idea. You can suppress weeds in your garden by choosing ground hugging plants. Choosing plants that are not prone to weeds will make your gardening experience a little easier. Sometimes colourful plants require the most maintenance. An alternative to adding colour to your garden is to use colourful gardening accessories like planting pots and boxes. Another way to spruce up the look of your garden is by completing border edging which will keep invasive plants in line while making your garden edges look neat. You can cut down on lawn maintenance by replacing part of the grass with stones or gravel and then planting borders around these areas. Keep your plants healthy by getting them ready for dry spells all you have to do is mix water strong granules into the soil. You don't need a green thumb to grow a healthy and beautiful garden.
