Feb. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- National Apprenticeship week launched today to raise awareness of the benefits from hiring an apprentice for your business.

According to the report by City & Guilds, over half of those companies who already recruit apprentices believe they offer greater value than hiring university graduates.

Kick start National Apprenticeship week by rewarding your business with real benefits gained from hiring an apprentice in your childcare setting.

Cost-effective recruitment

All businesses are trying to find ways to cut costs in a continuous economic downturn.

Training an apprentice is more cost-effective than hiring qualified staff, which can lead to lower recruitment costs and less investment in qualifications further down the line.

As payback for investing time into their training, apprentices tend to be very loyal to their employer and help provide the specialist skills needed to keep pace with the latest technology and working practices in the early years sector.

Practical on-the-job learning

Employers experience increased productivity, improved competitiveness and a committed and competent work-force using apprentices. Through on-the-job learning, apprentices develop skills hands on, allowing them to implement their own practical sense into their learning.

Prime Minister David Cameron also gave his backing to the Apprenticeship week, encouraging all businesses and young people to get involved.

“Apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity for people to gain the skills they need for the jobs of the future, equipping the country for our goal to build long-term sustainable growth.

“That is why despite some difficult decisions on spending; we are boosting the number of Apprenticeships. We think this is absolutely vital not just to help people into work for the short term but to make sure they can have successful long term careers.

“With hundreds of events around the Country taking place, Apprenticeship Week is a great opportunity for more businesses, young people and potential apprentices to get involved, and benefit from all that apprenticeships bring.”

To help raise the awareness of childcare apprenticeships, Parenta Training are offering all employers the chance to put any staff member on a chidcare apprenticeship for Free.*
