Feb. 6, 2011 - PRLog -- No one has doubt that education in its broadest sense is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another.

MEDUCON or “Media and Education Conference”, is a series of conferences organized by International Association of Human Values (IAHV) supported by UNESCO. MEDUCON facilitates the interaction of like minded intellectuals and citizens to find out avenues to harness the power of media and other information communication techniques, in influencing the way that knowledge, skills and values is imparted to the next generation.

IAHV is an international humanitarian and educational non-governmental organization committed to promote resurgence of human values in all aspects of life across the globe. The Association partners with governments, educational institutions, other NGOs, corporations, businesses and individuals, to develop and promote programs of personal development to encourage the practice of human values in everyday life.

IAHV along with its sister organization, Art of Living Foundation has one of the largest volunteer based networks in the world. It has reached over 20 million people in over 140 countries from all walks of life with a wide range of social, economic, cultural and educational activities. The organization works in special consultative status with the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations (UN), participating in a variety of committees and activities, related to health and conflict resolution.

Primary objectives of MEDUCON include promoting effective use of Media and Communication Techniques in education to enhance meaningful influence for the betterment of day to day life through positive social interaction. For the MEDUCON conducted during January 28 – 30 2011 at Sakunt Resort Kotputli near Jaipur, the education minister of Rajasthan Shri Bhanwarlal Meghwal was the Chief Guest. Heads of schools from various parts of Rajasthan as well as Delhi actively participated in the same.

From Pilani located in the heart of Shekhawati region of Rajasthan which is the hub of high quality education at all levels, Mrs Booma Natarajan Principal of Jamuna Mishra Academy – JMA Pilani participated in MEDUCON. Established in the year 2004 JMA which has been making rapid strides in early childhood education is presently one among the top ranking schools at Pilani Rajasthan.

Mrs Natarajan shared details of JMA Pilani with the participants and pointed out that while JMA admitted both boys and girls, the girl student enrollment had been steadily rising every year and is presently nearing 50% of total strength which itself is a matter of pride in a state which had alarmingly low record of girl’s education.

In her speech Mrs Natarajan pointed out that education and media are the two pillars of the society and hence it is essential to set a vision and take it up as a mission with passion for the larger task of nation building.
