When a family pet unfortunately goes missing most owners confine their search to their local area, putting up posters of their lost pet and contacting the local authorities and the RSPCA. However, the Hendersons have gone much further than this in their quest to have their dog returned. Peter and Joanne have paid almost one thousand pounds to a company called Animal Search UK who have delivered 1,500 leaflets. They have also conducted approximately three hundred door to door interviews in their quest to return the missing dog. They have also put in over two hundred hours of search time on the streets which have included two full twenty four hour stake outs.
It was January 18th when Benjie ran away. He escaped from the Hendersons van as they delivered a parcel near their home. The despairing couple have taken time off from work to search for Benjie and have even been out til midnight calling his name.
So far there have been several sightings of the dog but every time the Hendersons have followed up the sightings it has been to no avail.
The founder of Animal Search UK, former police man Tom Watkins, said this was the company’s biggest ever rescue campaign.
The story just goes to show how easy it can be for an animal to escape and how difficult & expensive it can be for their return.
If you have seen a stray three legged dog in the Swindon area with a black collar, please get in touch with Animal Search UK.
