PRLog - Feb. 3, 2011 - BELMONT, Calif. -- Pearson, the global leader in educational publishing, has selected Speech Remedy’s speech-language rehabilitation products to be distributed in its print and online catalogs.

Speech Remedy is a leading provider of adult-focused speech-language-cognitive rehabilitation materials.  Pearson now offers Speech Remedy’s popular SR-Cognition therapy kit and supplemental Photo Cards Decks as part of its broad range of speech and language products for health care professionals.

Created by Speech Remedy founders Joanna Boyer and Terri Tarnoff Snyder, both certified practicing speech-language pathologists, SR-Cognition is one of the most comprehensive, up-to-date, functional adult focused cognitive therapy products on the market today.

The kit contains two workbooks (one with easel option and one with re-useable reproducible pages) featuring hundreds of therapeutic activities; 85 photo cards; 20 picture cards, and a dry erase marker all in a sturdy portable tote box.  Activities and exercises feature realistic everyday scenarios, in real world environments using current cues for memory and language building, daily living and life skills development and reinforcement.

Pearson will also offer Speech Remedy’s eight Photo Card Decks, which are real-life color photographic cards designed for use with patients, addressing: Confrontational Naming, Problem Solving, Safety & Awareness, Categorization & Scanning and Sequencing.  The photo card decks promote: sustained attention, visual scanning, word retrieval, vocabulary and word relationships, articulation, sequential thought, topic maintenance, problem identification, critical thinking and safety awareness.  Each card deck features up-to-date images with real-life situations and objects and suggested questions and answers for discussions with the patient.  The card decks may be used stand-alone or may be added as a supplement to the SR-Cognition kit.

Speech Remedy’s products are currently being used by thousands of SLPs and other allied health professionals in hospitals, long-term care facilities, inpatient and outpatient therapy clinics, rehab centers, private practices and schools around the world.  The products can help rehabilitate individuals who have sustained a stroke, traumatic brain injury, cranial resection, tumor, or are suffering from degenerative conditions such as dementia, ALS, or multiple sclerosis and may also aid high school aged individuals with developmental challenges by providing functional and independent life skills training.
