The Global Fund for Children Names Kristin Lindsey Chief Executive Officer

Innovative philanthropic leader takes reigns of global organization investing in the lives of vulnerable children around the world

Feb. 3, 2011 - PRLog -- The Global Fund for Children (GFC) is pleased to announce that Kristin Lindsey will join the organization as CEO on February 15. Lindsey brings over 20 years of executive experience and leadership in the nonprofit and philanthropic fields to an innovative organization that has touched the lives of more than 1 million of the world’s most vulnerable children and youth.

Lindsey comes to GFC from the Council on Foundations, where she served as the executive vice president and chief operating officer from 2007 to December 2010. Prior to joining the council, Lindsey was founder and principal of Intersector Consulting, a practice that worked with foundations and philanthropic associations on strategy, learning and evaluation, communications, and program development. Before establishing her consulting firm, Lindsey was senior vice president at the Donors Forum of Chicago, a membership organization serving 1,200 nonprofits and foundations in Illinois.  From 1985 to 1998, her career included positions in government and the nonprofit sector, where she specialized in public affairs, policy, and research.

“The Global Fund for Children has experienced tremendous growth for the last 15 years and now arrives at a pivotal stage in its evolution,” stated Juliette Gimon, chair of GFC’s board of directors. “Kristin brings a wealth of experience in managing, building, and strengthening philanthropic organizations. She will provide the kind of leadership necessary to guide GFC through important short-term priorities and toward its long-term strategic vision. I have full confidence that she will successfully navigate the organization into the future.”

“There is nothing more precious, vital, or valuable than the future of a child,” said Lindsey. “I am deeply honored to join the team at The Global Fund for Children, which is dedicated to investing in innovative, community-based organizations that share the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to live a happy and productive life. I look forward to carrying this vision forward in order to expand GFC’s reach and change the lives of many more children around the world.”

“It is my extreme pleasure to welcome Kristin Lindsey to the GFC family,” said Maya Ajmera, founder of The Global Fund for Children. “I am gratified by the tremendous accomplishments of the organization, while humbled in the knowledge of the vast needs of vulnerable children and youth around the world. I am confident that Kristin possesses the necessary combination of vision and managerial expertise to continue GFC’s growth and carry out any necessary transformation.”

Ajmera founded GFC in 1994, and in 1997 the organization awarded its first grants, totaling $3,100, to three grassroots organizations. To date, GFC has awarded close to $20 million in grants to community-based organizations in 75 countries. Ajmera will work closely with Lindsey to ensure a smooth transition and will remain a member of GFC’s board of directors.
