"We assumed that men diagnosed with advanced disease were well taken care of by the larger cancer survivor nonprofits, but we were wrong. So, we spent a year developing the National Advanced Prostate Cancer program," said Malecare Executive Director Darryl Mitteldorf, LCSW, "We never imagined the extraordinary numbers of men that would embrace this program. Within one month, we've seen over 1,000 men."
Creating a new national program focused on helping men in late state prostate cancer problem was not an easy task, but it has proved to be life saving.
"Now, I don't have to shop around for the information I need," said advanced prostate cancer patient Lukas North. "I don't have the energy I once had, and many days, I just sit home dealing with my pain...the Advanced Prostate Cancer Program puts me in touch with other guys going through the same pain."
The Advanced Prostate Cancer program is free and available to all. Family members are welcome to join, too. It's goal is to help inform men about the latest treatment opportunities as well as help them to keep enjoying life.
"I've learned about a clinical trial from this program. Who knows if I will beat my cancer, but at least this program has helped me to keep fighting," says William Kettering
