Founder of The Stakeholders to Present February Consulting Alliance Luncheon Program

Feb. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- The Consulting Alliance will hold a lunch meeting on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 11:30 A.M. to 2 P.M. at Wolferts Roost Country Club, 120 Van Rensselaer Blvd., Menands, NY.  The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members.  Guests and prospective members are invited to attend.  Reservations are required and can be made by calling (518) 434-0489 or by emailing info@consultingalliance.org.

The program "When Generations Collaborate for the Greater Good" features Catherine Hedgeman, Esq., who founded The Stakeholders, a regional, intergenerational organization that empowers people to take a personal stake in the future of their communities. She will discuss how The Stakeholders carries out its mission to design a sustainable future for the Capital Region through advocacy, volunteerism and philanthropy.  

A native of Albany, NY, Catherine Hedgeman is a magna cum laude graduate of Union College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with Department Honors in 1996. After college, Hedgeman pursued a career in government relations in Washington, DC, then returned to her hometown to attend law school. She received a Juris Doctorate degree from Albany Law School in 2000 where she was an associate editor of The Albany Law Review. After graduation, she practiced in several of New York's prestigious law firms as an associate and lobbyist.

In 2007, Hedgeman started the Law Firm of Catherine M. Hedgeman, located in Albany. She specializes in Real Estate, Land Use/Development & Zoning, Commercial Law, Corporate Law and Government Relations.  She founded The Stakeholders the same year in order to create a "cool, sustainable place to live."

In 2008, Hedgeman was appointed to the New York State Young Leaders Congress by the Spitzer administration to advise the administration on economic development issues pertaining to the attracting and retaining young people in New York and building sustainable communities. In 2010, Hedgeman was appointed to the New York State Commission on National and Community Service by Governor Patterson.

Hedgeman received the 2008 Woman of Distinction Award: Junior Trailblazer from the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York, the 2005 Capital District Business Review 40 Under 40 Award and the 2005 Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce Women of Excellence Award for the Emerging Professional. In November 2008, Hedgeman appeared in O Magazine as one of 80 Women who received a Women's Leadership Award from the White House Project and O Magazine, The Oprah Magazine for her work on economic development issues, philanthropy and volunteerism.
