Feb. 2, 2011 - PRLog -- NEW EBOOK "A FAERIE'S HISTORY OF CALEDONIA" RETRACES THE STORY OF PRE-NINTEENTH CENTURY SCOTTISH HISTORY IN A CONCISE FORMAT OFFERING BOTH FACTUAL ACCURACY AND A UNIQUE, ALMOST SPIRITUAL PERSPECTIVE.

Charlottesville, Virginia, USA. February 2, 2011 – Charlottesville author and resident Jeff Maurer has published "A Faerie's History of Caledonia," in which he adopts the viewpoint of one of the wee people in order to bring cohesiveness to a history that can seem fractured, and to hopefully brighten (just a wee bit) a story that has often been portrayed as overly dreary.

"A Faerie's History of Caledonia", published by Smashwords, is now available for download at the Smashwords site (where the first 30% of the book can be viewed for free): http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/34462
The price to read the entire book is a mere $2.95. It is also available through a number of other electronic book outlets (including Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Apple, and Diesel, and will soon be available through Sony and hopefully Amazon).

Maurer always felt a strong connection to things Scottish. But it was not until his first trip to Scotland that he identified an especially emotional aspect of that connection. Hoping to discover some basis for that connection, Maurer intensified his research into Scottish history, ultimately concluding that although there had been many books written about Scottish history in general and about the Clans, Stewardship, and the Jacobites in particular, none of the histories he read put things together in a way that personally satisfied him and did justice to what he thought was a great story with an ancient soul. So he undertook the project himself, trying to make it concise and entertaining but relatively complete. The result is "A Faerie's History of Caledonia" - a short, historically accurate telling of the courage, tragedy, honor, savagery, chivalry, and hope that is the story of Scottish history.

About Jeff Maurer
Born in western Pennsylvania, raised in the 60s in the sarcasm belt of north-central New Jersey, graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Education, Maurer moved to San Francisco in 1977 (partly to see what it might be like to live someplace where the people wore flowers in their hair: someplace very different from what he had so far been accustomed to). After surviving significant initial culture shock, he spent most of the next two decades in various parts of the Pacific Northwest, and loved it. He currently resides in Charlottesville, Virginia where he is employed as a respiratory therapist in a children's hospital.
