Models Direct: Gemma Ward Talks Acting, Modelling & Her Relationship With Heath Ledger

Feb. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Following the tragic death of actor Heath Ledger, Ward has been on a long break from the world of entertainment.

“I have taken a break from the media spotlight for the past few years and it was something spurred by Heath's death.

“[Heath and I] first met in New York and we were both struggling with things that I won't get into, and we bonded over that,” Ward recently told Melbourne’s Sunday Herald Sun.

The stunning model-slash-actress also spoke of her debut acting venture. Ward is currently preparing for The Perth Theatre Company's The Ugly One – a role that will undoubtedly see her draw from her experience and skills gained as a model.

“It is interesting because as a model you do play a certain role and you know as an actor you play another role,” she told the newspaper.

Ward has also revealed that once The Ugly One closes, she will continue acting and return to modelling.

"I am very, very devoted to things that I'm passionate about. I think in terms of me shying away from modelling, I would like to clarify in some way that I was taking a break from many things in my life and obviously what people in the public see is that I'm pulling away from what is more public," she said.
