Weddings at Whirlowbrook Hall have real IM-PACT

Feb. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Regional wedding venue Whirlowbrook Hall used its first wedding open evening of the year last night to launch not only its latest brochures and budget busting mid-week wedding packages, but also as a platform to support PACT – a Sheffield based children’s cancer charity.

Five local businesses led by the Fretwell-Downing owned Whirlowbrook Hall, have joined forces to offer brides-to-be the weddings of their dreams at a manageable cost, while at the same time having a positive impact on a local children’s charity by donating £100 from every wedding booked.

The launch event was attended by a number of prospective brides to be on the night, who had the opportunity to see the venue and discuss the arrangements with some of the local wedding suppliers on how to put their dreams for the perfect wedding into reality.

“The evening was a great success,” said Whirlowbrook Hall director Paul Downing. “The mid-week wedding PACT is simply a win-win situation for everyone involved. The happy couple get to have a dream wedding at an affordable price, Whirlowbrook Hall and the wedding suppliers get to demonstrate our capabilities to a wide audience and the children’s cancer ward at Sheffield Children’s Hospital will benefit directly, every single time a wedding is booked.”

All the PACT (Parent’s Association for Children with Tumours and Leukaemia) partners were on hand to answer questions and give advice on the night, including Shoot Lifestyle Photography, Go Glorious Venue Styling, Rachel Edwards Couture Cake Design, Petalis and Bandstation UK.

The concept was devised by former Sheffield florist Sarah Turpin, who following the sudden and tragic loss of her baby daughter, Laura, in April 2007, founded her floristry business in Laura's memory and took the decision to donate to PACT from every flower sale.

Keen to find other ways of raising funds for the charity, Sarah approached Paul Downing with the idea of bringing together some of the highest quality suppliers to partner on weddings. Sarah, who has recently relocated to Bath with her family, said, "I am deeply moved by my friends and colleagues wanting to keep Laura's memory alive and take forward my idea to raise important funds for PACT. I wish everyone involved every success and I know that no bride will be disappointed."

The average UK wedding can still cost between £11,000 and £16,000, so it’s not surprising that young couples can be put off - daunted by these sorts of figures, which is why Whirlowbrook Hall has developed this mid-week package. The new deals mean a wedding can be sourced for under £4,000 - an astonishing price which includes everything from complimentary canapés, Drink Package 2 (which includes a complimentary champagne upgrade) to the wedding breakfast. If that’s not enough, the package also includes an evening buffet (based on an additional 30 guests), complete with resident DJ and complimentary room hire and Master of Ceremonies.

“Mid week weddings are not just about saving money,” explained Paul. “The bride and groom can pretty much guarantee the services of the suppliers they want mid-week without needing to pay a premium for the weekend, leaving more money available to spend on the things that matter. There is nothing like coming along and seeing Whirlowbrook Hall for yourself, but the new brochures give a good indication of what we can offer, while PACT means by making your booking you are supporting a local children’s charity at the same time.”
