DW-RADIO: Listeners awarded in Dhaka • Winner from Dhaka, Farhan Khaled takes home grand prize • DW-RADIO/Bengali contest draws strong local interest

 
PRLog - Feb. 1, 2011 - ALL AREAS, Singapore -- Dhaka/Bonn, January 31, 2011 – Deutsche Welle announced this afternoon that Farhan Khaled is the grand prize winner of its countrywide consumer contest, ran in conjunction with the launch of the broadcaster’s Bengali FM service in Bangladesh. Developed exclusively for Bengali users and listeners, entries were accepted via text message (SMS) shortcode, e-mail and online at www.dw-world.de/bengali up until December 10, 2010.
The promotional contest drew strong interest from participants across the country, with a motorized scooter worth BDT121,000 being offered as the grand prize and runners-up each receiving an iPod Nano worth BDT 8,000. DW-RADIO/Bengali announced the contest winners at an awards ceremony at Pan Pacific Sonargaon in Dhaka.
“We have received a phenomenal response from our users and listeners in Bangladesh – particularly the urban youth who responded to our interactive contest,” says Tobias Grote-Beverborg, Deutsche Welle’s Distribution Executive for South Asia. “It has increased the popularity of our online services at www.dw-world.de/bengali and heightened the awareness of our newly-launched FM service in six major markets in Bangladesh.”

DW-RADIO/Bengali is available to listeners daily between 8:00 and 8:30 am and 8:00 and 8:30 pm. DW-RADIO programming is broadcast via Bangladesh Betar’s FM network: 97.6 MHz in Dhaka, 105.4 MHz in Chittagong, 105.0 MHz in Sylhet, 102.0 MHz in Khulna, 105.0 MHz in Rajshahi and 105.4 MHz in Rangpur.
