Precision Paddleboards Announces Signing of Team Racers Mary Anne Boyer Willis and Chris Stephan

Feb. 1, 2011 - PRLog -- Fort Lauderdale, FL, February 1, 2011 - Precision Paddleboards, South Florida’s Stand up Paddleboard Specialty Store, is proud to announce the signing of competitive Stand Up Paddleboard racers Mary Anne Boyer Willis of Weston, FL and Chris Stephan of Deerfield Beach, FL to the Precision SUP Race Team.

Boyer Willis, a former US Olympic Yachting hopeful for the 1992 Barcelona Summer Games and two-time collegiate All-American from the College of Charleston, has competed in more than 15 stand up paddleboard races in Florida and the United States, most recently finishing 2nd in the Orange Bowl Paddleboard Classic. “I am so excited about representing the first South Florida SUP-only shop,” Said Boyer Willis, “I couldn’t wait for this shop to open. This community really needed a store that offers high quality equipment for every SUP level.”

Stephan, a Fort Lauderdale native, is a life-long waterman who started surfing South Florida at the age of 12. “When I found stand up paddling, I was stoked that I could ride any waves – even boat wakes – and get out on the water even in flat conditions,” Stephan said. “Riding for Precision Paddleboards race team gives me a chance to focus on racing and spread my love for the sport that’s been a life-changer for me.” Stephan has finished in the top 5 in the majority of his races, including a second place finish in the Stock Class at the Sunshine SUP series in January 2011.

Boyer Willis and Stephan are the first sponsored racers to join the Precision race team.  “It’s important to support racers who are not only committed to winning, but are true ambassadors for the sport,” said Josh Vajda, Precision Paddleboards President. “Both Chris and Mary Anne bring not only racing expertise to our team, but passion and enthusiasm for educating and growing the SUP community.”

Both racers will represent Precision Paddleboards in the upcoming YOLO Winter Race Series on February 19th in Sarasota, FL.  Precision expects to add several more sponsored racers to the team in 2011.
