Split metal pulleys are known for their strength and economics as compared to either the cast/machined or stamped/riveted counterparts.  “We begin with a coil and run it through a specialized leveling process before blanking circular discs.  Having very flat blanks is critical to throughput, wobble and concentricity” said Mitch Leis, pulley Engineering Manufacturing Manager at McGregor.  “Once the blank is stamped we split  the part on our high-speed spinning equipment.  Then, depending on the design, we robotically weld a hub to the pulley that we’ve produced from our machining equipment.  After running finished pulleys through our quality system, working with our supply chain, we can provide a variety of painting or plating options to the customer’s specification.”
