Jan. 31, 2011 - PRLog -- Denver, CO – Amélie Company Advertising and PR announces two of the agency’s advertising campaigns made the coveted list of top creative ideas chosen by New Denver Ad Club award show: The Fifty. Held January 27, 2011, in downtown Denver, The Fifty showcased the best ideas from around the state including Amélie Company’s statewide public awareness campaigns for the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

Dedicated to “great ideas,” The Fifty is open to advertising, marketing and PR companies across Colorado, featuring the top 50 creative campaigns from 2010. The Fifty celebrates ideas themselves across all mediums—with no categories and no trophies. “The Colorado advertising community is continually growing. Last night’s award show gave us a chance to hang out with other creatives and get inspired by all the truly amazing work being done by agencies around the state,” comments Gordy Hirsch, Amélie Company art director and driving force behind the CDOT and CSP advertising campaigns.

“To have our work selected as part of the top 50 creative ideas in Colorado is a real honor,” says Benoît Guin, Amélie Company principal. “Being recognized by our peers is the best award we can get.”

Amélie Company Winning Campaigns:
CDOT came to Amélie Company with a challenge—create a campaign that encourages bikers to wear helmets and safety gear. In order to do this, Amélie took the position that bikers should wear helmets because car drivers don’t pay attention. The campaign brought to light the kinds of bad choices drivers make and the potential impact they have on motorcyclists. Using original photography of real bikers from Colorado added credibility and helped with word-of-mouth awareness within the local biking community. The campaign ran on billboards, print ads, gas pump toppers and gas station window clings.

CSP asked Amélie Company to bring awareness to the dangers of aggressive driving around commercial motor vehicles. The target audience was mid-twenties male commuters, who believe they are “good drivers,” but actually speed, cut people off and tailgate. The campaign featured striking headlines—“Tailgating is for sports, not trucks” and “Ride halfpipes, not tailpipes”—written to capture the attention of the target. The tactic with the highest impact was a 3D spectacular billboard simulating two billboards crashing together, a massive dramatization to bring awareness to the high-impact collisions that can happen when cars drive aggressively around trucks. Amélie Company created truck wraps with campaign messages for additional visibility along highways, and produced magnetic signs that truckers could put on their trailers for free, warning of the dangers of tailgating.

As an additional interactive element of the award show, attendees texted votes for a People’s Choice award—which went to Amélie’s CSP campaign.
