Printing Pictures from Digital Format

PRLog - Jan. 31, 2011 - TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay Printers: Printing out pictures that you have taken with your digital camera seems like it would be very easy. It is, to a point. You must be aware, though, that the quality of the photo will have to do with the way you download it into your photo program on the computer and the resolution you use.

Sending pictures over email from your camera to your computer to an email recipient will work fine if you just ask the email program to compress the photo. It will be easier to send that way and the recipient will get the general picture. It may not be art quality, but they will be able to see it and the details. A photo compressed for email will be sent over the airwaves much more quickly than those you leave in their original file size.

If you have ever sent a photo to an email recipient and it seems to take forever to load, that’s most likely because you are sending a high resolution photo in its original format. Sending more than one of those may be difficult or impossible. There is usually a limit to the file size you can send by email. If your one picture is within that size, you can send away. If you have more than one, you will most likely have to compress them before sending.

When you send a photo file over the internet to print it out through a printing service you may have the same problem. It will depend on the speed of your internet connection and the capability of the printing services photo program. For example, if you wish to print out a set of wedding invitations and include a picture of you and your future husband or wife, you’ll have to pay attention to the resolution of the photo. The better the resolution, the clearer and more detailed the picture will come out on the printed invitations.

Look for the maximum size photo that the printing program will accept. Call if it’s not listed on the website and talk to a technician. Use the highest resolution setting you can when you take the photo. When you send it, compress it only as much as you need to in order to get it into the printing program.

Also be sure that you are sending it in the correct format-JPG, TIFF, PNG, etc. The idea is to get the highest quality photo into your finished printed product while staying within the parameters of the capability of the printer’s program.printing services, union printing, screen printing, large format printing, vehicle wrap, political printing
