WHY:   Proceeds from the run/walk and bike ride are contributed to local inner-city public elementary schools and non-profit organizations in and around the Greater LA community, and fund literacy programs as well as promote healthy lifestyles to reduce childhood obesity.
             
DETAILS:     Celebrate the Chinese Year of the Rabbit with the LA Chinatown Firecracker 5/10K Run/Walk!  Open to runners and walkers of all levels, Firecracker is the largest Chinese New Year 5/10K charity run in the nation and one of the longest-running events in California.  The scenic looped-course starts in LA’s historic Chinatown and winds through Elysian Park and the Dodger Stadium backlot.  Featuring an “East Meets West” theme, the opening ceremony includes LA Laker Girls leading warm-up stretches and features traditional lion dancing and the lighting of 100,000 firecrackers to start-off the run.

Not a runner?  Sign up for the 30-mile Bike Ride on Saturday, February 12th.  Also be sure to bring the whole family to the Nite N’ Day Festival on Saturday.  A day of cultural and music acts, the festival goes from 10 AM – 6 PM and is FREE to the public.
