The 7th Annual Run The Waves 5K & Kid’s Fun Run

Jan. 30, 2011 - PRLog -- Los Angeles, CA – Pepperdine University’s MBA Challenge for Charity (C4C) Chapter continues to support local charities through its annual Run the Waves 5K run along picturesque Zuma Beach. Runners and motivated walkers are invited to participate on a flat course where they’re sure to put their best foot forward. The family friendly event takes place on Saturday, March 12, 2011 and will include a USTFA certified 5K run kicking off at 9:00am and a Kids Fun Run at 10:00am.

Teams and individuals are invited to register at http://Pepperdinec4c.org, or day of registration begins at 7:15 am at the northernmost parking lot of Zuma Beach, located at 30000 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA. The cost of the 5K is $30 per person and the Kid’s Fun Run is $10 per child. Registration packets can be picked up the morning of the event.

This is a time for the Pepperdine and Malibu communities to exercise and celebrate our local charities as all proceeds from the event benefit The Special Olympics, The Children’s Lifesaving Foundation & UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. Since 1996, the entire C4C Organization has raised nearly $5 million for its charities and volunteers nearly 15,000 hours annually.

Pepperdine’s Challenge for Charity (C4C) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that draws on the talents, energy, and resources of MBA students to support Special Olympics, The Children’s Lifesaving Foundation and UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. We believe strongly in developing business leaders with a lifelong commitment to community involvement and social responsibility.

These goals are accomplished through volunteerism and fundraising which is fostered by collegial interaction and friendly competition among 8 other MBA programs (including Stanford, UCLA, and USC) on the west coast. C4C is an umbrella organization through which each school separately fundraises and volunteers throughout the school year. In competing, each school challenges the others to raise the bar in making an impact on its surrounding community.
