Final call for charity ball auction prizes

Jan. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Laura Moorcroft, Senior Conference and Events Co-ordinator at the 14th century hotel, has organised the Great British Ball alongside close friend Carrie Baynes. All proceeds will go to the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity, chosen because Laura has beaten cervical cancer while Carrie’s husband Neil is a survivor of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Laura said: “The ball is being held on March 4 and is almost sold out.  All the organising has gone really well, but we are still in need of some raffle and auction prizes.  We would be very grateful for donations.”

Legal PA Carrie added that any items, large or small, would be warmly welcomed.  “We’re hoping that local businesses will want to get involved in raising money for this worthy charity, which looks after people at the Rivers Hospital in Sawbridgeworth as well as in Chelmsford,” she said.

“Or perhaps someone out there has a famous friend or relative who would like to sign something to go into our auction.  Every item will go some way to helping people suffering from cancer.”

Laura and Carrie, who are both from Sawbridgeworth, thanked those who had helped them organise the event, including Sarah Jackson, Kevin Needham, Katie Talbot and Vini Watson.

The Great British Ball will feature music from tribute act The Fab Beatles along with a drinks reception and four-course meal. Auction prizes already secured include tickets to Glorious Goodwood, golf at Stoke Park and Arsenal FC tickets.  There are a small number of tickets still available priced at £75.

Down Hall Country House Hotel, which is under the management of Then Hospitality, is set in 110 acres of woodland, parkland and landscaped gardens.  Situated 15 minutes from Stansted and 30 minutes from central London, it has 99 bedrooms as well as facilities for business conferences and weddings.
