Roy says. ‘The world in regard to commercial activity is continually changing. Companies are restructuring and cutting back, it is now more important to make sure that executives are in receipt of all the facts before they can make the right decision. Crime and corporate fraud is on the increase and it will continue to rise in the next few years. It is now more important that companies take all the necessary actions to ensure their companies are protected from both inside and outside forces that are trying to undermine their operations and profits’.
We recommend to all our clients that they regularly monitor the activities of their staff especially those involved in accounts, movement of goods and outside sales staff, as well as, how they are regulating access to sensitive information. Corporate espionage does exist and during these difficult times is on the increase as other competitors have to try to keep their competitive edge.
Having said that it is a normal corporate activity to observe what your competitors are doing using the acceptable method of competitive intelligence, this is a subject that WIS International undertakes on behalf of clients. Reporting on what competitors are doing on a day to day basis and what they are intending to do long term. In today’s climate it is important to know if your competitors, for example are expanding or reducing their operations, are they taking on more staff or making redundancies, are they seeking new premises or closing existing ones?
In addition to this companies should also continually look at the trading situation of customers they give credit to, they should be looking at how they are doing, at their accounts, business activity, they should be getting feed back from field staff as to the clients activities, as well as keeping an eye on the customers ordering trend, are they increasing orders when the market is reducing?
WIS train clients staff, at all levels, as to what they should be aware of and how to monitor the activities of customers. Your work force will be able to raise the alarm before a situation gets out of control and cost your company valuable profits.
Talking about staff it is important to know who you are employing. Are they fit for purpose, are they who they say they are, are they actually trained to do the job. Employment screening is so important and it should be noted that companies should be screening all employees no matter what their position. It is not just top executives that steel your secrets, the unseen staff are the most likely to be a plant into your company. See our website under employment screening for some examples.
