Havebury’s tenants are safe in the hands of new Communities Manager

A former police Chief Inspector has joined the ranks of Havebury Housing Partnership as its new Communities Manager, bringing with him more than 30 years’ experience of working for communities in Suffolk.

Jan. 28, 2011 - PRLog -- Mark Jepson retired from Suffolk Police earlier this year having joined the force as a cadet when he was just 16.  Now, following frequent collaboration with the affordable homes provider in his previous role, he has been appointed to the post of Communities Manager at Havebury.

He explained: “In 2002 I was an Inspector in Haverhill and worked closely with Havebury’s housing team – together we started the estate inspections and shared information about anti-social behaviour.  I also became a member and then chairman of Havebury’s Community Investment Focus group so I’ve had a close relationship with the partnership for some time.

“While I loved my time working in law enforcement, what I have always really enjoyed is working with people to improve their communities.  I am very lucky to have had one fabulous career with the police and then starting another with Havebury.”

In the short term, Mark says his role will include co-ordinating Havebury’s Community Investment and Neighbourhood teams to work more closely together to provide a more streamlined service for tenants. “I also want to ensure we achieve maximum impact for the money we are investing in our communities,” he added.

Philip Sullivan, Havebury’s Director of Operations, said Mark’s wealth of experience in the police would be of huge benefit to Havebury and the communities it serves.  “Mark has lived and breathed Suffolk life during his time in the police – he thrives on working with communities and he’s passionate about making sure improvements are made swiftly and efficiently.  We are very glad he’s come on board with us.”

Havebury, which has offices in Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds, is dedicated to serving both the existing and future housing needs of people in West Suffolk and the Cambridge sub-region.  A charity and not-for-profit association, it currently manages 6,000 homes.
