Follow on Google News | Top marks for 'outstanding' Treloar's SchoolAN education inspector has delivered more outstanding feedback to Treloar School, based in Alton – Hampshire, a school for young people with complex disabilities and learn difficulties.
By: Antonio Cappalletti, Marketing Manager Treloar’s was selected to be involved in a ‘subject survey inspection programme’ that Ofsted are compiling, examining business and economics education in a cross section of primary, secondary and special schools across the country. The inspector saw first hand how these subjects are taught at Treloar School, and praised the delivery of the lessons such as money-handling, a community skills trip as well as number work in mathematics classes and budgeting. He was also impressed by the Preparation for Working Life course taught to Key Stage 4 students, which formed a case study of ‘Battersea Dogs Home’ and enabled the students to learn about the different roles employees have within the organisation, the process of rehoming dogs and how the home fundraises. The inspector also enjoyed talking to staff and students, and took the time to have lunch with the Head Boy and Girl of Treloar School, as well as Headteacher, Harry Dicks. In a letter to Mr Dicks, he noted: “The overall effectiveness of economics and business education, including the development of students’ economic and business understanding and enterprise and financial capability is outstanding. The “positive attitude” of the students was highlighted as well as their willingness to become “fully involved” in classes In addition, the excellent rapport between staff and students was picked up on. It was noted that: “The lessons observed were very well-planned to develop students’ progress towards achieving clear objectives in highly tailored individual education plans (IEPs). Learning support assistants worked seamlessly with teachers to support learning extremely well. Headteacher, Harry Dicks, said: “Our provision is judged to be Outstanding in every regard and I congratulate colleagues for achieving such an excellent outcome from the Inspection."
