The special guest for Diva TalkRadio Spotlight is Constance Brown-Riggs, MSEd, RD, CDE, CDN, and National Spokesperson for the American Dietetic Association. This accomplished author will discuss her two books, The African American Guide to Living Well with Diabetes and Eating Soulfully and Healthfully with Diabetes.
“Even though people have diabetes, it does not translate to a mealtime sentence of spinach leaves and celery sticks. Our divas are the meal planners and resident chefs for their families and we’re looking forward to Constance’s advice on helping them prepare a healthy soulfood dinner,” says Mr. Divabetic.
About 26 million people in the United States have diabetes and it disproportionately affects African Americans more than the general population and other races and ethnicities, according to the 2011 National Diabetes Fact Sheet, a joint report released Wednesday (1/26/11) by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health organizations and federal agencies. In addition, diabetes can cause other complications such as stroke, heart disease, kidney failure, blindness, high blood pressure and more.
“February is Black History Month – what better time to reinvent some soulful recipes and start living like a diva? Constance has created a Diabetes Soul Food Pyramid, an idea that’s relatable for our listeners and timely for a Valentine’s dinner too,” says Mr. Divabetic.
Diva TalkRadio Spotlight featuring Constance Brown-Riggs airs live on Tuesday, February 1 from 6:00 PM to 6:30pm ET. It stream from the host page at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/
