McKenney is an active member of the Taxation Section of the Michigan State Bar Association and served on its Taxation Counsel. He also serves as a committee Chair of the American Bar Association Taxation Section. McKenney has spoken at more Institute of Continuing Education programs than any attorney in the State. He is a past chairperson of the Detroit and Oakland County Bar Associations.
