Jan. 26, 2011 - PRLog -- The Port St. Lucie Sunset Rotary Club was recently honored with the Outstanding Group Supporting Philanthropy, St. Lucie County Award.  The award, given annually by the
Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Treasure Coast Chapter was presented during the organization's 16th Annual National Philanthropy Day celebration on November 19, 2010 at Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club. More than 400 people were in attendance at the ceremony honoring local individuals, businesses and organizations for their contributions to the community.

Stephen Krumfolz, President of the PSL Sunset Rotary Club, and Club Secretary and President Elect, Larry Breault, were on hand to receive the award.  “I’m absolutely thrilled to accept this award on behalf of our members,” Krumfolz stated.  “Our members and volunteers work very hard all year, giving countless hours to raise money, awareness and provide volunteer services to many local, national and worldwide causes.”

Some of the beneficiaries of this club’s services are Big Brothers Big Sisters, Alzheimer’s Community Care, CASTLE (a local child abuse education and prevention organization), Easter Seals, Guardian Ad Litem Angel Tree program, local Veteran’s groups, and many other local organizations.  They also contribute to and assist with delivering dictionaries to local third grade students each year.  In addition, they host two annual golf tournaments, have adopted a local park to keep clean, and are organizing and helping to create an endowment fund for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The Port St. Lucie Sunset Rotary Club was nominated by Judi Miller, Executive Director of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties.  “I nominated the Port St. Lucie Sunset Rotary Club for the Philanthropy Award because I feel this organization epitomizes what Rotary’s motto is, “Service Above Self”.  This club spends all their time, energy and resources on giving back to the community and they ask for nothing in return.  I am so happy to see them get this recognition in return for all they do.”
