Akadema Endorser Manny Ramirez Signs with Tampa Bay Rays

Jan. 25, 2011 - PRLog -- Hawthorne, NJ – January 25, 2011 – The Tampa Bay Ray have announced a deal to sign Akadema endorser Manny Ramirez to a one-year contract.  The reigning American League East Champions plan to use the 38-year-old outfielder primarily as a Designated Hitter.  Ramirez will reunite with his former Boston Red Sox teammate, Johnny Damon, and be back in the American League East to provide veteran leadership and protection in the lineup for Rays’ slugger, Evan Longoria.  Last year, Ramirez played with both the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox, but was limited to 265 at bats due to right knee and left groin injuries.  By being utilized predominantly as a Designated Hitter, Ramirez and the Tampa Bay front office believe that the 12-time All-Star can extend his career and limit injuries.  In 2010, Manny Ramirez hit .298 with 9 home runs and 42 runs batted in.  The two-time World Series Champion has amassed 555 home runs, 1,830 runs batted in, and a .313 batting average through 18 MLB seasons.
