John Ryley read the news of a recent dryer fire where a three-year old boy was honored for his quick thinking that saved the lives of his family.  New York fire officials declared him a junior firefighter and presented him with a badge and certificate, a NY city Fire Dept jacket, and other gifts.  When he noticed the fire, the boy shook his father awake while yelling “alarm, alarm, alarm!”  His father was able to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.  The boy’s parents said he learned fire safety in school and that he now makes it a point to check for smoke detectors everywhere he goes.
