Jan. 24, 2011 - PRLog -- Got a mustache? If so, you too can participate in Mustache Manuary, to help raise money for the Green Mountain Council Boy Scouts of America.

Mustache Manuary is a month long fundraiser where participants upload a picture of themselves (and their mustache) to www.mustachemanuary.org. For each picture posted, each  of the five event sponsor will donate one dollar to the Green Mountain Council Boy Scouts of America throughout the month of January (or Manuary). Visitors are allowed to vote on their favorite mustaches.

Local web design firm and Internet marketing company, BurlingtonBytes.com and Das Bierhaus, a German themed bar and restaurant, created the event and have already raised over $300 for the organization. “We’re putting the ‘fun’ in fundraising and helping out a quality organization in the process,” said Pete Jewett, founder of BurlingtonBytes.com.  “This is the first year we’ve started this and we’re already working on our improved marketing plan for 2012,” he said.

Participants from all over New England have submitted over 62 mustache photos so far. “We set a goal of 50 mustaches, and have already surpassed it,” said Jewett.“Our new goal is to get over 100 mustache photos and double our donation before month’s end.”

Aside from sponsor donations, to add a little flavor, participants will be judged by voters, for a chance to be invited to the live finals on February 13, 2011. The live finals will decide the 2011 Mustache Manuary Champion for a shot at bragging rights, prizes and trophies. Categories include Dali Mustache, English Mustache, Fancy Beard, Freestyle, Goatee, Hungarian Mustache and Natural Mustache.

Originally the event started off accepting only mustache photos, but organizers have since decided to also include goatees and beards.  “Some men just can't part with their facial hair,” said Jewett.

Sponsors of the event include BurlingtonBytes.com, Das Bierhaus, The North Face Store at KL Sports,  Winooski's Beverage Warehouse, and Vermont Outdoor Storage. It’s not too late to get involved as a sponsor or participant. For more information or to become a sponsor contact Pete Jewett at 802.578.6492 or visit www.mustachemanuary.org.
