By: Nick Silverio, Founder About "Safe Haven" "Safe Haven for Newborns" began in response to the tragedy of newborn abandonment in Florida. The Gloria M. Silverio Foundation, a 501 (C) 3 not for profit Florida organization, established the "Safe Haven" program in 2001. The "Safe Haven" program now reaches across the entire state of Florida. Lives are being saved and many pregnant girls and women have been assisted during their most desperate time. It is one of the most successful programs in the nation. Recently the "Safe Haven for Newborns" program was established in the states of Kansas and Missouri. Nick Silverio continues to advocate for all "Safe Haven" related issues in Florida. As of this writing, one hundred and fifty one (46 in South Florida alone) precious babies now have a future due to the "Safe Haven" program.
