Jan. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- Wood IP Resolution provides (ADR) services specifically for cases involving patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, publicity rights, domain names, computer privacy and other intellectual property. Mr. Wood has an accomplished record of more than 35 years in intellectual property law and has represented clients in hundreds of contested matters including administrative hearings, court and jury trials, appeals, mediation and arbitration matters.

Starting in the mid-1980’s, Greg Wood served in various dispute resolution capacities including as a judge pro temp, an arbitrator (sole, panel member and panel chair), and mediator.  Prior to becoming a partner with Fulbright & Jaworski LLP, Mr. Wood was a partner in two other intellectual property firms and the managing partner of the Los Angeles office of a large highly regarded IP firm.

Before embarking on his legal career, Mr. Wood earned a B.S. degree at U.C.L.A. in Electronic Engineering and an M.S. degree at U.C.L.A. in Control Systems Engineering under a fellowship with Hughes Aircraft. While with Hughes, Mr. Wood was licensed by the State of California as a Professional Control System Engineer. He transitioned to patent prosecution on highly technical complex electro mechanical, computer, and optical systems and went on to earn a J.D. degree with honors from La Verne College of Law while working at Hughes Aircraft.

Devoted to continuous professional development, he participated in more than a dozen training certification courses in dispute resolution, arbitration, mediation, and negotiation at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University. Ranked by U.S. News and World Report: Guide to Graduate Schools as the #1 school for dispute resolution in the nation for six consecutive years, the Straus Institute is a global leader in mediation and an innovator in conflict resolution techniques.

Greg Wood draws on his technical background, experience in intellectual property litigation, executive management oversight, and expansive professional development to lead alternative dispute resolution involving intellectual property. As a mediator, he has patience, attentive listening skills, and maintains the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality. He assists disputing parties to untangle the complexities in intellectual property issues and understand the cost in time, money, reputation, and commerce of “not settling.” He expedites actionable resolutions without polarizing and poisoning working relationships that are needed for the parties to move forward.

As an arbitrator, Mr. Wood actively manages the arbitration process to ensure an economic, speedy and just process before the hearing and a just and efficient presentation of the evidence at the hearing so that the benefits of arbitration can be realized. As a mediator, he understands the real interests and other perspectives that foster a collaborative problem-solving environment and lead to agreement. His understanding of people, legal options, business goals, and intellectual property principles positions him to serve as a valuable intellectual property legal resource in the business community.
