Jan. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- The Federal Government has indicated 9.3% fall in International enrollments this year, and thus, is therefore reviewing Student Visa Rules to draw in the motivation of several individuals willing to go for their further Study Overseas and to keep the $18 billion international-student industry determined.

Countries like US, Britain, Canada and China no doubt are more determined in retaining their International Students in comparison with Australia, which though is still trying to keep its International Students home.

John Phillimore, The executive director of the John Curtin Institute of Public Policy enlightens that, Australia has lost its big chunk of International Students because of its unreasonably cumbersome, complicated and expensive provisions of visa requirements.

Further more, a study he co-authored for the Australian Technology Network of Universities has found that, Australia has charged at least $200 more for student visas than Britain, USA, Canada or New Zealand. Moreover, unlike to other countries, in Australia, applicant was even required to show the funds for the whole duration of their course, such as if the course is for two years, applicant has to show the funds for two years.

Tertiary Education Minister, Chris Evans, has rightly said that, the rise in the value of the Australian dollar has made study in New Zealand and other countries like USA, Britain more economical as compared to Australia. He in his last speech has outlined that, Competition is increasing in the sector from other nations, mainly from the countries like United Kingdom, United States and Canada, who are seeking revenue to balance exhausted endowment funds following the global financial crisis. Also, unlike Australia, Canada, just by relaxing its few requirements for Community College is booming high by drawing number of Indian Students.

The reason declared for this overall serious decline by the chief executive of Universities Australia, Glenn Withers is slow processing, more work experience and harsh financial-deposit requirements. Further it indicates the ratio of decline from the order of 30,000 students less in 2014 compared to 2010.

Anthony Welch, professor of The University of Sydney laid emphasis on the fact that, Australia is facing greater competition within the Asia-Pacific region to enroll International Students. He estimated around 80,000 students enrolled in Singapore Universities, 60000 in Malaysia Universities and 240000 in China.

China, the biggest market of Australia has proclaimed its plans to develop world-class institutions within its country and double the population holding higher education qualifications by 2020.

Professor Welch further adds that, decline in International students would lead to an discontent among its domestic students as budgets would fall substantially, staff will decrease, and infrastructure would suffer.

Agreeing with Prof. Welch, Jesse Marshall, the union’s presidents said that, Universities would increase administrative fees to make up for reduced revenue.

The student visa review is due to report by the middle of the year.

The creative person who works as an application development should always think “out side the box”. It has always been seen that diverse organizations have diverse application demands.
