Jan. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- (Austin, TX) – Davis & Wilkerson, P.C., (www.dwlaw.com) announced today that attorney Cory D. Macdonald is assuming the leadership role of the firm’s Long Term Care and Retirement Housing Practice Group.

Frances Hamermesh, an attorney with decades of experience in the health law field, will remain an active member of the practice group, focusing on fair housing and exempt organizations issues as well as assisting Macdonald in his efforts to expand the practice.

“This is the right time for Cory to step into a leadership role,” said Hamermesh. “He has proven to me and our clients that he is a highly skilled attorney, who also has a strong vision for our practice area.”

Macdonald has extensive experience representing senior housing and health care providers across the board, including facility development and financing, operational issues, regulatory compliance, licensure/certification, and corporate governance.

Macdonald will continue to be assisted by shareholder Jennifer Claymon, whose employment law expertise has benefitted the practice group’s clients for over a decade, and the rest of the firm’s Health Law Practice Group.

With Macdonald at the helm, the group will continue to provide exemplary legal services to developers and operators of retirement and assisted living communities, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies and other senior services.

“I’m honored to receive this recognition and promotion,” said Macdonald. “I look forward, with Fran’s support, to helping our practice group achieve its many goals and become the absolute leader in this field of law.”

About Davis & Wilkerson
Davis & Wilkerson was founded in October 1985, in Austin, Texas, with a goal of developing a legal practice built on strong relationships with its clients, employees and other attorneys. Today, the firm of 38 lawyers still adheres to those goals as well as a professional standard of excellence, noteworthy by the fact that three-fourths of the firm’s owners are Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Trial Law, Personal Injury Trial Law, Health Law, Administrative Law or Appellate Law.

The commitment extends to its charitable work as well. It has regularly contributed funds and expertise to help individuals and families receive cost-free legal assistance through the Volunteer Legal Services (VLS) of Central Texas.  This contribution was recognized in 2006 when the firm received the prestigious Joseph P. Hart Award, which is given each year to a firm that demonstrates the integrity and commitment to provide legal assistance for those without the ability to obtain that assistance on their own.  In addition to D&W’s involvement with VLS, the firm’s attorneys and staff contribute time and money in service to more than two dozen other charitable Austin organizations.
