Jan. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- An independent website that aims to deliver an unbiased and accurate service to both experienced and first time cruisers, http://www.CruiseCompare.co.uk has conducted research with 1,173 people across the UK to discover what the top ten dream holidays and destinations are amongst Britons.

The study, by http://www.CruiseCompare.co.uk, asked respondents the multiple-choice question 'If money was no object and time off work was not an issue, which of the following would you consider to be your dream holiday?'

Topping the poll, with almost a fifth of the respondents agreeing, was a cruise around the world, followed by a holiday in Mauritius and a break in Barbados.

According to the results of the poll by http://www.CruiseCompare.co.uk, the top 10 most desired holidays are as follows:

1.       Cruise around the World - 19%
2.       Mauritius - 13%
3.       Barbados - 11%
4.       Travelling around Australia - 9%
5.       Dubai - 8%
6.       The Seychelles - 7%
7.       New York City - 6%
8.       Rome - 4%
9.       Skiing in The Swiss Alps 3%
10.   Safari in Kenya - 2%

Of those who stated that a cruise around the world would be their dream holiday, 39% said it was because they could 'see so many different places' and 14% said it was the 'relaxation' that appealed to them most. Just fewer than 1 in 10, 9%, said a world cruise appealed to them most because of the 'culture.'

The majority of those whose dream holiday was in Rome agreed it was because of the 'culture' the country has to offer, compared to 56% who said that the 'relaxation' was what made Mauritius their dream holiday location.

21% of those who selected travelling in Australia as their dream holiday, claimed it was due to the fact it was 'an adventure of a lifetime,' whilst 16% claimed it was their dream holiday due to the 'fantastic weather.'

Other dream holidays included Thailand, Disney World in Florida and Lapland.

Danielle Fear, managing director of http://www.CruiseCompare.co.uk, had the following to say:

"Holidays really are a great form of relaxation and, in many cases, are the thing we most look forward to.  We all have a picture in our minds of what our dream holiday would be, and what is more idyllic than a cruise around the world visiting different countries and experiencing so many cultures?

"A world cruise can cover every experience that any other holiday can offer and more. As well as exotic beaches, glorious sunsets and different cultures, a cruise offers the chance to form friendships, as travellers have the opportunity to meet different people on the cruise ship. The cruise liners themselves also offer an array of activities, so there's fun to be had both on and off the ship."

She continued,

"After a long year of working and the stress of everyday life, everybody deserves a relaxing holiday, no matter what the destination may be. If people are looking to make their dream holiday become a reality, http://www.CruiseCompare.co.uk is a great way to find the ideal cruise and the ideal price."
