THIS UNIQUE ART BOOK is a 22-inch tall elephant-sized folio finely bound and hand sewn on Fabriano Rusticus paper. It is letterpress printed in Baskerville type in four colors. The folio includes six color art prints from metal plates: "Tennessee's Women,” by world-renowned artist Clarice Smith. Each piece was made in Florence, Italy, on a 60-year-old roller press.
THE PRINT SERIES includes the legendary theatrical heroines: "Maggie" from "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," "Laura" from "The Glass Menagerie," and "Blanche" from "A Streetcar Named Desire.” The prints measure 13" x 17.5".
COMMENTARY on the art is provided by publisher David Bruce Smith, the artist’s son, who specializes in creating, designing, and writing limited-edition books through his company David Bruce Smith Publications. The preface to this edition is by Michael Kahn, Artistic Director of the Shakespeare Theatre and an acquaintance of Tennessee Williams.
