Unique ground-mount solar cuts installation time dramatically

SunSations Energy's unique design for ground-mount tracking solar systems cuts installation time to two days, nearly one-tenth of the tradition time needed to install a ground-mount. This allows for more installations to beat the August 31 deadline.

Jan. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- A new Ontario manufacturer of ground-mounted dual-axis solar tracking systems is showcasing their powerful, unique design at the upcoming Canadian International Farm Show, February 8 – 10, 2011. As a centrepiece of the show, SunSations Energy’s full-size tracker will demonstrate their unique plug-and-play system which comes fully assembled and is dropped into place - a quicker installation and with less disruption than traditional arrays.

SunSations Energy’s unique manufacturing process allows for a two-to-three day installation window, as opposed to a month or more with traditional installations. Complete assembly at the factory ensures uniform quality and attention to detail, qualities that are difficult to achieve in traditional field assembly and installation processes.  Additionally, it allows the system to be ESA (Electrical Safety Association) certified before it leaves the manufacturing facility. The tight turnaround for installation allows more property owners to see their system in place before the two key compliance deadlines looming for contract holders.

All 80 cent contracts must be installed by August 31st to retain this high rate of return. There are over 15,000 contracts for this higher rate and less than 1/3 have been installed to date;  many contract holders will soon be scrambling to get their installation up and running in time. Additionally, ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) microFIT applications submitted before noon on July 2, 2010 are eligible for the 40 percent domestic content level until May 31, 2011 provided the project is installed, connection authorization has been issued and a request for connection to the local distributor has been made. With winter holding up the majority of installations, many contract holders will be in a bind to get their installation placed in time for this deadline.  SunSations Energy’s unique manufacture and installation process allows installation even in winter.

Engineered with harsh Canadian weather in mind, the SunSations Energy Systems contain advanced protection components including dual wind and lightning sensors to ensure the system’s integrity even during adverse weather conditions.

“The system meets high wind load specifications, not only in the horizontal safety position, but in the vertical position as well,” explained Oliver Jakel, partner at SunSations Energy.  “Designed and engineered in Ontario for Ontario weather conditions, SunSations has built this system to surpass Ontario Farm Building code standards in the systems most vulnerable position – the down position.  If your barn is standing following a storm, your SunSations Tracker will be too. This is a measurable standard that is difficult to find in this industry.”

Surpassing Ontario building codes, the SunSations Energy System tracks the sun through a military specification astrological control system designed for Canadian winter weather (-40C). This feature minimizes unnecessary tracker movement extending the longevity of the system’s components.
